Richard trained at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama. His theatre ranges through tours, open-air and site specific productions and includes Sir Justin Holbrook in SHUT YOUR EYES AND THINK OF ENGLAND (Gawsworth), Dad in PRETTY UGLY (Powerhouse), Gregory in THE LATE EDWINA BLACK (Bruce James) and Sly / Baptista in TAMING OF THE SHREW (Creation). Other theatre includes: Orsino in TWELFTH NIGHT and Pembroke in KING JOHN (Original Shakespeare Co.), Dr Watson in SHERLOCK’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE (Proteus), Beaumarchais in MONSIEUR D’EON (Theatre Metropolis), Al in APRIL IN PARIS and Bernard in DON’T DRESS FOR DINNER (Hamburg), Little John in ROBIN HOOD and Master Page in FALSTAFF IN LOVE (The Lions Part).
Television includes: ROYAL DEATHS AND DISEASES (Channel 4), A MOST DESPERATE UNDERTAKING (History Channel), HARRY AND COSH (Five), INVENTIONS THAT CHANGED THE WORLD (BBC).
For documentaries, as well as providing many narrations, he has also voiced characters as diverse as Gustav Mahler and Napoleon Bonaparte.
